“Not this man,” they shouted, “but Barabbas!” (Now Barabbas was a insurrectionist.)
Sorry I have been missing this couple of days but I been sick and things have happened. Today we are going to be talking about a story that many don’t pay attention to it and if we do we overlook it. I’m pretty sure the majority of us have seen the Passion Of Christ. I just love that movie I think the actor who portrayed Jesus was pretty good at it; it has become the film that stayed mostly true to the bible. But there are a couple of scenes that touched me and makes me cry when I watch it. But today we will talk about a certain scene and passage in the bible that I have overlooked or just makes me angry and confused and a lot of more emotions when I see and read it. That scene where Jesus is presented before the crowd and Pilates asks the people of Israel to choose who they wanted to free; a criminal( Barabbas) or Jesus.
“As soon as the chief priests and officers saw Him, they shouted, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!”
Let’s focus on Barabbas; he was a criminal( a murderer and a rebellious man who didn’t obey authority.) The Jews chose this man over the one that was healing and doing miracles because he called them out in their hypocrisy and religious behavior. In one side they had the Truth and the Way and on the other side they had Sin. Why would the jews free someone who after he was freed he most likely would have continue to be the same.? I never dwelled in that passage because I just saw the injustice of what was being done to our Savior, but now I have realised that the Father allowed this to happen because he loved Barabbas, in that moment he was still a sinner but still he loved that murderer and sinner of a man. He chose for the people of Israel to freed Barabbas because first of all if he had died without Jesus sacrifice he would have gone straight to hell without salvation. I mean we do not know what happened to him after he was freed because the bible doesn’t tell but Jesus had to die to give him the opportunity for repentance and salvation and to bring salvation to all of us.
Jesus answered, “You would have no authority over Me unless it were given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed Me over to you is guilty of greater sin.”
Something that always boggles my mind is that Jesus even knowing that his Father was not a simple thing he chose to go through it. I mean if I were in that position I would have begged and pleaded. Let’s be truthful we might think it’s easy but we forget is that his suffering was multiplied by the amount of sin he was carrying upon his shoulders when he was crucified. Can you imagine the level of pain that he went through when he was flogged and whipped. It say in the bible that his face and body was disfigured; chunks of meat were being pulled. I can’t imagine going through something like that and then when you are crucified that your father’s presences leaves you because of the amount of sin that is in your shoulders.
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
We like to say grace, mercy and salvation is free but we forget the painful sacrifice and the blood that bought that. We take for granted what was bought through pain and blood; and we do with it what we want. We forget that in the old testament a sacrifice had to be done for the transgressions of sinners it wasn’t lightly. It say in the bible that Job sacrificed lambs for the transgressions of his family. Yes, Jesus came to do the ultimate sacrifice for you and I; but that does not give us the right to do whatever we want with it. Lets appreciate and change for better.

Hello Dear Ana. Just read your post and got to know that you had some health challenges. How are you now? I hope you have been getting enough rest.
Pointing out the price for forgiveness is a great one. Lord Jesus paid the price and made us free, however, it came with a lot of pain that He bore in His body and a lot of blood that fell to the ground as well.
We must hold that blood as precious and not common because it is of great value.
Please take care. Lots of love to you.
More of Lord Jesus to you.

This was definitely is a beautiful perspective to have. Christ not being chosen by the people claiming to follow God, but He died for everyone, even those perhaps we may not think deserve it. Powerful 🙂 Well done!
