Hello,
Today’s blog post we are going to be talking about impact. On Saturday afternoon the youth had an activity at church. We watched a christian movie called To Save a Life; I remember watching this movie on my teenage years with the other youth group that I was involved with. This movie has a strong message about actions, consequences and the impact that you can have on someone’s life as other teenage topics that need to be spoken about at church.
To Save a Life is a movie about a young man with big dreams but all those dreams come to a stop when his childhood friend commits suicide in front of the school; and he starts to question his lifestyle choices. This movie speaks to the rebellious teen, alcoholic, depressed, suicidal, promiscuous and to the fake(hypocrite) christian inside of us. A lot of Christians are fake nowadays and I include myself in that list. We put so much high standards that at the end those standards choke us. Moments when we don’t allow weakness to show because we are afraid to be criticize by our own brethren, by outsiders and we keep walking as nothing has happened in our lives or as if we are made of stone that nothing can move us.
Luke 12:2
There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.
It says in the bible that by his blood we are freed of sin but instead of being slaves of God by our own free will we have become slaves of our flesh. Life is so beautiful with all of it flaws but we don’t notice because we have become slaved by our wants and desires. I tried to show the teens through this movie that every action that we do or take has consequences and that the impact that we can do as Christians can be an amazing one or just completely wrong. They learned that through the mist of trials and tribulation, joy and fear God is there beside you. Through what was happening to the teen they were able to see God’s hand and his immense Love toward us.
Life is not black or white it has a middle space that is gray. They were able to see that even though you can’t see God or feel his physically; you are able to see his work in your life, family and friends. That bad influences or friends can corrupt good morals. That God is the only one that won’t forsake you; that an action can create a chain reaction that will glorify the Lord. One teen gave a testimony and he said that when he was living in California the youth he was part of saw the movie and they decided to create a christian group in school and to eat all together in school during lunch and he tells that many youth that didn’t know Christ were able to come to his path through that action.
Psalm 138: 7-8
Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, And Your right hand will save me. 8 The LORD will accomplish what concerns me; Your loving kindness, O LORD, is everlasting; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.
We as christian have the opportunity to create a big impact on this earth and the lives of it’s inhabitants. Jesus gave a commandment before parting from this world that we make disciples of the people living in it but have really done that.? It’s a question that we need to ask daily to ourselves.
