God bless everyone; tonight I will speaking about a woman that the Bible does not give much background on; however she was shown as a victorious woman. This is during the years that Israel was under the rule of Jabin King of the Canaanites after God sold the nation of Israel because they had been doing wickedness in his sight.
Ā And she said, ” I will surely go with you. Nevertheless the road on which you are going will not lead to your glory, for the Lord will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman” Jud 4:9
God had commanded Barak to lead an army of 10,000 soldier to fight Sisera who was the commander of Jabin king of Canaan. Maybe it was fear or self-doubt that made this man delayed in doing then order that God had commanded for him; that gave the opportunity not only for Deborah but also an unknown woman named Jael to come out as woman of valor and victory. God had called Barak but in his lapsed in making the decision; the glory of the victory for the battle would be bestowed upon a woman.
āThen Jael, Heberās wife, took a tent peg and took a hammer in her hand, and went softly to him and drove the peg into his temple, and it went down into the ground; for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.ā
āāJud⬠ā4:21ā¬
One thing that I want you to get from this post tonight is that God calls but when we disobey his command or call it’s not a good thing. Many times the calls that God makes to us it’s to glorify himself through us. Barak in a moment of self-doubt let the honor of being know as the person who defeated Sisera be given to someone else. You have to grab the opportunity when it presents itself. As IĀ have testified before; there have been moments when I have felt like quitting because of the responsibility that comes with being a leader. However God has always in one way or another spoken to me to not let cowardice take from me what he wants me to have. Jael was a woman whoĀ saw an opportunity and she took it; she fooled the enemy with kindness and made him feel comfortable and safe; before she obeyed God’s command.
Grab with both hands the opportunity that God presents to you. This series we are talking about being called with a purpose but at the end of all; we are the ones responsible in doing what is necessary. Jael’s actions made her be known in the Bible as a victorious woman; that did not let fear nor self-doubt stop her from doing what needed to be done. That action gave Israel Ā the boost they needed through God’s help to destroy and defeat King Jabin and his rule.
You unravel me, with a melody
You surround me with a song
Of deliverance, from my enemies
Till all my fears are gone
Fear of the unknown or unseen stops our calling; it’s time to break free from those chains that keep us prisoners in our own self-doubt and insecurity. Rise up to the occasion as Jael and be known as a woman or man whoĀ is victorious in God’s eyes. The enemy rules over what we give him liberty to; stop that and rise up to the unseen and the call that God has put in your life.
P.s. Thank you from the deep bottom of my heart for being in this joyful ride with me in the unseen and unpredictable. Yesterday I received the notice that my blog has 108 followers; when I started this blog was because had put in my heart to do it and I let fear, doubt and insecurity stop my growth for a year. I have decided to put my trust in God that he will provide a way not just for me blog but for me personally in every aspect of my life. Thank you so much; I really appreciate itš¤ššShalomšš
Keep going! God bless you with more and more people to read the words God gives you. Jael must have been some strong type of woman to drive a peg into someone’s head! The Bible is so completely fascinating. I love the fact that God uses all types of people to accomplish His purposes.
